As the sole owner and operator Mountain Pet Products, I want to personally share a significant update about the path that lies ahead. Just as our cats navigate different phases of their lives, so do we as individuals and business owners.
For close to two decades, I have had the joy of handcrafting unique and durable cat furniture pieces for all my customers. Since my humble beginnings back in March 2005, I've had the privilege of creating beautiful products for your feline companions.
Over the last few years I have struggled to continue crafting my cat furniture and toys. 2020 was the year I learned that I could not continue production on the scale I once had.
I was blessed to be inundated with orders that year, while so many businesses were forced to shut down. However, the toll it took on my body, not just in 2020 but in all the years leading up to that point, was a signal I could no longer ignore.
Since then I have scaled back my cat furniture offerings, at times closing my shop for “vacation” just to give my body the rest it needed.
Mountain Pet Products has been my life for close to two decades and letting go isn’t easy. I am formally announcing my plan to continue to scale down operations until such time as my inventory of materials is depleted.
This means I will be offering what products I am able to make with my remaining material, as well as furniture parts for DIY.
My expectation is this process will take until around the end of 2024. At that time I may choose to continue offering products on a very limited scale, or I may shutter the business completely. I have not made a final decision on this yet.
I have new pursuits in mind as well as another Etsy shop I’ve run since 2012, ArborEssence, which I will be turning more of my attention to. For those interested in rare, unique, and classic vintage goods, I encourage you to visit ArborEssenceShop (dot) com.
As I move through this final chapter, I want to share the many memories made along the way. Look for more updates and stories here in the coming days and months.
I extend my deepest gratitude to each of you – the cat parents, the feline aficionados, and everyone who has been part of this incredible journey. There are many of you that have been customers from the earliest day and who have continued to come back again and again. I appreciate each one of you.
Your support, trust, and enthusiasm have fueled my creative spirit and made each piece all the more special.
